The former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, has responded as Supreme Court removes Local Government Chairmen, instructs Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to freeze Rivers State funds.According to a report by Channels TV, the Supreme Court’s verdict resulted in the removal of all local government chairmen in Rivers State and instructed the CBN to withhold financial disbursements to the state government.Reacting to the development, Peter Obi strongly condemned the ruling, describing it as a reckless decision. He cautioned that such a judgment could jeopardize democracy and bring undue hardship to the people of Rivers State.In his statement on X, he remarked:”The actions of the three arms of government—the Executive, the Legislature, and the Judiciary—are deeply troubling. The Executive’s misuse of power, as seen in Osun State, and the Judiciary’s reckless decision concerning Rivers State present a significant threat to our democracy.”
