NNPC Cuts Petrol Prices Amid Economic Hardship

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has reduced petrol prices at its filling stations, following the Dangote Refinery’s price cut. According to reports, NNPC now sells Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) for N880 per litre in Lagos and N935 per litre in Abuja. A visit to NNPC’s station in Lagos revealed a new price tag of N880 per litre, a N45 reduction from the previous N925 per litre.

However, not all outlets have implemented the price reduction uniformly. Some NNPC stations in Lagos still sell petrol at N905 and N910 per litre, while in Abuja, the price drop was less significant, with some stations selling at N935 per litre.

The price reduction comes after the Dangote Refinery announced a cut in the ex-depot price of petrol to N890 per litre.

The marginal price drop still leaves many Nigerians struggling with economic hardship. The NNPC’s price adjustment has brought some relief, but the impact varies across locations.

As the market responds to the new prices, Nigerians hope for further reductions to alleviate the economic burden. The NNPC’s move aims to stabilize the market and provide some respite to citizens. Despite this, the price disparity between locations raises concerns about uniform implementation.
