Opunabo Inko Tariah, a former aide to ex-Governor Nyesom Wike, said the political crisis in Rivers State is mainly about the state’s treasury. He said Governor Siminalayi Fubara has not borrowed any money since taking office, yet has executed 54 major projects. He said the sole administrator of Rivers, Ibas, also confirmed that the projects were well funded and properly executed.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Silverbird TV, Tariah said Governor Fubara revealed the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) is actually about 28 billion naira every month, not 13 billion naira as previously claimed by his predecessor, Wike.
In Tariah’s words: “This is a governor that has not borrowed a Kobo, they met over 200 billion naira in our account. Governor Fubara’s predecessor said the IGR of Rivers was 13 billion naira every month, Siminalayi Fubara said no, what we receive monthly is about 28 billion naira. So it is all about the treasury”
