How 18-year-old lured Okada rider into hotel room, locked him inside, went away with his motorcycle

The Niger State Police Command on Monday evening gave details of how an 18-year-old teenager was arrested with his accomplice after he lured a commercial motorcycle rider into a hotel room, locked him inside and went away with his motorcycle.

The command disclosed the development on its Facebook wall, saying the teenager, whose name was given as Mohammed Usman, was arrested along with his accomplice, Mohammed Abdullahi, aged 22 years, by the operatives attached to the Crack Squad of the command.

According to the report, Usman boarded a motorcycle to a hotel around Tunga by Old City-gate, and after dropping, he lured the commercial motorcycle rider to his hotel room and while they were inside, he took the man’s motorcycle key and locked him inside the room.

The command wrote: “Usman made away with the motorcycle and took it to Abdullahi in Paiko for sale. In the course of investigation, Police detectives swung into action and arrested Abdullahi who has a pending case of criminal force and assault over a gang fight at a mining site in Paiko.”

Abdullahi was said to have led the operatives to the mining site where Usman was waiting for him to collect the proceeds of the sale of the motorcycle, and he was arrested too.

“Two motorcycles were recovered from Abdullahi and he confessed that Usman brought the motorcycles to him for sale. Usman also confessed to the crime and stated he stole one of the motorcycles from Obajana, Kogi State, at a mining site early last month,” the command added.

They were said to have given more useful information to the police operatives and they are expected to be charged to court at the conclusion of the investigation.
