.Former Rivers State Governor Rufus Ada George has said that he holds Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and former Rivers governor, responsible for the political crisis in Rivers
Speaking in an interview with NDNTV Nigeria, Chief George said “when the right time comes, there will be proper ways to deal with Wike”. He recalled a parable often used by Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, one of Nigeria’s founding fathers, who would say “Surulere,” a Yoruba word that means “be patient” or “keep calm.” George said he is now using that same advice to urge the people of Rivers to stay calm and peaceful despite the ongoing problems.
Chief George said that while they remain calm, they will also continue to pray and trust God for help. He said, “I am holding Wike responsible for all the crisis in Rivers State. When the time comes, there will be ways of dealing with him. I remember what a popular Nigeria leader used to say. Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe when he was alive he used to say a parable which is in Yoruba language, he used to say Surulere (Be silent, be quiet). And I am going to borrow the words of Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe to say Surulere to all those who are involved in our activities. On our own part we will continue to pray, and look up to God. We believe this is our state and we must rescue our state”
